BUS TO QUARTERLY MEETINGS

It has been suggested that some members in the Northwest would be willing to pay a fee to have DQN charter a bus to and from the nighttime quarterly meetings since many members don’t like to drive at night, drive on the freeway, etc.

If you are interested in seeing this come to fruition we will need one or more volunteers to work on this project.  The first thing that needs to be done is to find a bus company, get their fees and report this to the Executive Board (either in person at the monthly board meeting or in writing prior to the meeting.)  If the Board approves this expenditure someone will have to get DQN member sign ups, collect fees, be the liaison between the bus company and DQN’s Executive Board, etc.  One company that may be able to help is ‘Quilt Tours of Las Vegas.’ Susan Tracy is the contact – her phone number and e-mail are:  647-8458, lasvegasquilts@cox.net

Regarding our quarterly meeting venues, as many of you know the Henderson Convention Center will be closing after our 2008 quilt show for renovation.  (For the last two plus years they have been telling us they will be renovating shortly, but this time they say for sure!)  Anyway, that is why we have had to scramble to find other venues.

And speaking of those of you who live on the west side of town, I want you all to know that I tried to look for venues other than Henderson for at least one meeting out of the year.  The places I checked were the West Charleston Library, Sun City Summerlin, and J.W. Marriott.  For various reasons none of these facilities could accommodate us.  Here’s hoping we can find a viable solution to get as many members as possible to our quarterly guild meetings!
