Charity Up Dates
As of June 7th we are taking on a new guild project. Ronald McDonald House is in need of new Queen Size Quilts for about 12-15 rooms. Big enough to use as a bed spread. That is, 2 quilts per room that are the same pattern and coloring. They don't have to be exactly identical. When the house opened in1997 our guild furnished the quilts. Many of the circles still have this years allotment for batting unused. We hope each circle will take on the challenge of one room of 2 quilts, pillowcases ,wall hangings and small crib size matching blankets are also nice. We would like them done by the October Main Meeting. We will also pair up the quilts with a quilter. Please let Bobbie Stember know if your circle will help.
June 7,2010 Blue Star Moms are asking for... the communities help. Christmas Stocking for our Soldiers. People can donate hand made and purchased stockings. Look on this web site for a drop off in your area. bluestarmomsnv@yahoo.com This is a year long project.
Quilts For Petersen Elementary School were distributed on December 17th.
141 quilts on the bed and Principal Steaffens didn't get a good nights sleep. By golly she found a pea. Total of 191 quilts were gifted by people all over the valley.
From Right to Left Principal Susan Steaffens, Connie Snyder, Georgie Shallob, Bobbie Stember, MaryKay Wheishan, Susan Cocks, Norma Chadwick & Kathy Farris We had the honor of representing the whole guild today as we passed out the much needed quilts to the students at Petersen elementary school. Some of the Black Mountain Group with quilts for the Petersen Project. Gifts of batting from the other circles has helped get the quilts. We even received quilts from ladies outside the guild. All the quilts were wonderful! I touched and looked at each one. We even received hugs from the teachers. Click on pictures to get a better look. I know for many of us we increased our knowledge of quilting. As you can see it was an amazing sight to view the shear amount of donated goodness. Every quilt was worthy of giving to your own grandchild. Job well done!!!!! The children, families and school staff will never forget this.
Thanks from Black Mountain Circle
