Around the Guild DQN Scholarship Winner
DQN President
Bobbie Stember and DQN 2010 Scholarship Recipient Shea Nicholas Shea is one of the seven candidates for Valedictorian at LVA. She will be attending Southern Utah University in Cedar City. She is studying costume design. Her teacher says she is an accomplished seamstress. Cedar is the home of a very large community of Shakespeare participants so I am sure she will get plenty of experience with design, color, textures and precision sewing. Betty Johnson the brainchild of our Scholarship has agreed to take on the enjoyable task of building a program environment that will mentor one or two of the students from LVA by bringing them/her to classes and meetings. Some of the criteria is that the student be working in the fabric arts and slated to continue on to a school of higher learning in the direction of design and use of fabrics. We hope our scholarship encourages our younger generation to continue our art with the love we share of fabric and design.
These are some pictures that were taken when we welcomed Patricia Bloomfield from Sidney Australia to spend time at Ann Pugh's home and a luncheon with the Crazy Threads Circle. For more photos check out our Quilt Chatter. A SURVIVOR'S QUILT
