Make sure you have paid your 2009 dues so that you can vote. Your membership expired September30, 2008

Desert Quilter's will be joining NQA. We will have additional insurance for our shows, along with a group quilt entry for the NQA Show usually held in Ohio and we receive four NQA magazines a year. If you are interested in joining it costs $30.00 for the first year and $20.00 for the following years.

We need people to help with some guild activities. Once you say yes, others follow.

We need someone to Chair the 12 -4- 12 quilt projects (Twelve projects completed in a Twelve month period) . You would track the quilters who sign up for this fun project and report back to the board. The reward to those who finish 12 projects is a $25.00 gift certificate to a participating quilt shop of your choice. Again it would be great to have a Chair by the October meeting. It's a good incentive to get those projects done.

We need A Chairpersons, teachers, and suggested classes for a mini sew-in for the Spring. This activity will take place instead of the Quilt Show which is postponed for this year only.

A couple of things we need feed back on are whether we want it in different venues around town (like the quilt shops) at different times or at one location around the valley for a 2 or 3 day period.

President Gerda Hanson’s Message

August 2008

Hello ladies,
It is time for me to reflect a little bit as this will be my last letter to you as president. Let me say, it has been my pleasure to serve as your president. I could not have done it without your support and the wonderful people on the board who served with me. To all of you I say thank you.
The quilt-til-you wilt class was wonderful and was well attended. We all had a great time. Thank you Carol and Ann.
Get ready for October. Our General meeting will be on Thursday Oct. 23 and our guest teacher will be Sharon Schamber. She will be teaching some great classes. The registration forms will be on the website shortly and will also be in the next chatter. Sign up early as these will fill up quickly.
Happy quilting until we see you in October.

Quilt Show on hold for 2009

Every spring the Desert Quilters sponsors a Quilt Show to provide members with an opportunity to display their quilts. A Fashion Show and Miniature Auction are also part of this event. Our yearly Opportunity Quilt Winner is also chosen during our show. However for the year 2009 we will not produce a show because the venue that we use is being renovated. So look for us the third week in March which is the 16 thru 21, 2010,

Helping Hands Quilts

Bobbie Stember organized work on 10 new “Helping Hands” quilts for the guild. These quilts are loaned out to guild members recovering from illnesses to give them a boost and express the get well wishes of the guild membership.

The guild has voted to pay a longarrn quilter to finish the Helping Hands quilts.

We hope that all who are in need of a little comfort will feel our love and compassion through our sharing of these quilts.

2008 DQN Board of Directors

Elections for the 2008 Board of Directors for the Desert Quilters of Nevada will be held at the Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 18, 2007 (for time and location see the DQN Calendar). The ballot for this election will be enclosed in the September/October 2007 newsletter. Directions will be included at that time on how to submit your vote through the mail if you will be unable to attend the October 18th meeting. Only members may vote. The ballots will tabulated the evening of the Annual Meeting and the new officers will be announced.

The following officers are willing serve in their current positions through the coming year:
